May 16, 2009 YHS Alumni Rock It For Autism On June 6th a few homegrown musicians will be showing their talent to raise money for the Inland Empire Autism Society of San Bernardino. The event, “Autism Awareness…A Musical Benefit,” is the project of a mother and daughter team. Cheryl Hunter and daughters Kristin and Lauren Harris are the team behind the event, which honors Cheryl’s son who has Autism. All three are graduates of Yucaipa High School. Kristin Harris, YHS class of 1999, is an Office Administrator for the family business. Kristin will be the event coordinator during the event. Lauren, a recent graduate of Cal State Fullerton, is lead singer for the band “Mirror Mirror” who will be performing at the event, and is utilizing her new degree in Communications to promote this event. Nick Terwilliger, another YHS graduate plays trombone in the band “The Swamphouse” who will also be performing at the event. Other YHS alumni who will be performing in their respective musical groups are Mike Hunter, Jesse Dinkel, Wendy Dinkel, Cheryl Hunter and Miranda Siegersma. The event beings with family activities from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. including slide shows, music, face painting, refreshments and presentations. The music will kick off at 6:00 p.m. 6:00 Eve’s Crossing – Deanna Joseph and Cheryl Hunter Coffee House style acoustic music, originals and covers 7:00 Hunter – Jesse Dinkel (vocals), Wendy Dinkel (vocals), Mike Finn (guitar) Mike Hunter (drums), Cheryl Hunter (bass guitar) Rock and Roll covers 7:45 Miranda Lee Siegersma R & B cover selections 8:00 The Swamphouse – Pause (rapper), Devin (vocals), John Stoyer (guitar) Mike Navarette (bass), Blewfoot (drums), Nick Terwilliger (trombone) Forrest (trumpet), Tuna Butter (keys) Hip Hop, Funk, R&B original tunes 9:00 Mirror Mirror – Lauren Harris (vocals), Jaime (guitar), Cameron (bass) Dave (drums) Rock, Alternative original tunes 10:00 Night Train – Eric Pompa (vocals), Mike Finn (guitar), Tony Baca (bass) Mike Hunter (drums) Rock and Roll covers The event will be at Diamond Jim’s Opera House, Mill Creek Cattle Company, at 1874 Mentone Blvd. in Mentone. Advanced tickets are $10 adult, $5 children 12 and under. At the door tickets will be $12 adult, $6 children 12 and under. Refreshments, raffle prizes, fun activities and good music.
